Fairview Health Services Nursing Station Technician Med Surg Oncology in Burnsville, Minnesota
Fairview Health Services is looking for a Nursing Station Technician (nursing assistant and HUC) to work in our Med Surg Oncology Unit department located at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN. The Nursing Station Technician does not work autonomously but works under the direction of a professional nurse.
This position works 64 hours every two weeks, with an opportunity to pick up additional shifts
8 hour shifts during the week (day/evening shift) and 12 hour shifts on the weekends (day shift)
Working every 3rd weekend (F,S,S) 12 hour shifts

Duties may include:
Provides basic patient care, i.e. activities of daily living, positioning, ambulating, answering call lights
Assists RN in monitoring patient condition by accurately taking vital signs, recording weights, measuring input/output, and recording oxygen saturation levels.
Reports unusual finding to the RN in a timely manner
Transports patients, equipment, and supplies
Prepares rooms for admissions
Stocks supplies, organizes patient/unit areas, and cleans equipment
Maintain office related equipment and supplies
The NST will be responsible for use of equipment, phones, clerical, transcription, and coordinate the flow of communication on the unit
The Nursing Assistant NST may be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the manager/charge nurse.
Previous HUC, NA, or NST experience or completion of technical, college or internal Fairview HUC program or equivalent related experience
BLS certification for a healthcare providers
Knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations, and hospital procedures
Must have strong customer service, phone and interpersonal communication skills, computerskills, and ability to work with diverse population
Requires ability to provide written validation of current basic life support competency
Strongly prefer Nursing Assistant training and 1 year of hospital based Nursing Assistant experience
HUC working experience or similar experience in transcription/medical terminology
