Fairview Health Services is looking for an OR RN at Maple Grove Ambulatory Surgery Center located in Maple Grove, MN. TWe have approved this role for 80 hours every two weeks, it does not require any weekends, and is benefit eligible! The Ambulatory Surgery Center is currently open Monday- Friday between the hours of 0700am and 400pm. There are 4 Operating Rooms and 4 Endoscopic Procedure rooms. The primary service areas include ENT, Plastics and Reconstruction, Pediatrics, GYN, Ortho, Urology, Ophthalmology, and General Surgery.

Fairview Maple Grove Ambulatory Surgery Center is a partnership with University of MN Physicians where you will find more than 20 medical specialties in one convenient location. Our patients have access specialty care for pediatrics and adults which also includes a cancer center, breast center and the ambulatory surgery center. We are proud to be one of the few centers that have earned the distinction of a Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence in Minnesota.

Responsibilities Job Description

The primary function of the Pre-Op/PACU Staff Nurse is that of a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability through the nursing process, for the peri-anesthesia care of the Center patient and significant others in collaboration with other health care providers.

  • Possesses knowledge of and ability to perform duties in accordance with established Standards for the PeriAnesthesia (Pre-Op/PACU ) Unit.

  • Adheres to strict Universal Precautions and blood borne Pathogen Policy.

  • Verifies patient ID and procedure to be performed.

  • Prepares patient for supervising during procedure. Monitors patient airway and circulation.

  • Manages monitoring equipment, fluid lines, tubes, drains and catheters as needed.

  • Possess knowledge of anesthetic agents, techniques, actions and interactions for patients of all ages.

  • Demonstrates skills and knowledge in IV therapy, medication administration and effects.

  • Administers IV medications as per doctor order. Insures proper labeling and documentation of patient specimens. Demonstrates skills in patient assessment, airway maintenance, and dysrhythmia detection and treatment.

Qualifications

Required

  • Graduate of a professional nursing program

  • Licensed RN

  • BLS

  • ACLS

  • 2 years of peri anesthesia, PACU, or OR experience

  • Experience with EKG interpretation, IV starts, EPIC, difficult airways, oral airways

Preferred

  • BSN

  • PALS upon 6 months of hire

  • Pediatrics experience
