Fairview Health Services is hiring a Surgical Technologist for the Operating Room at our Fairview Maple Grove Ambulatory Surgery Center in Maple Grove, MN .

We are seeking a Certified S urgical T echnologist to support our Ambulatory Surgery Center as a scrub person during surgical procedures for ages 6 months through geriatric. The Surgical Technologist will collaborate with the RN and Surgeon by adhering to standards of nursing practice and patient care, correct use of supplies/equipment, and maintenance of the surgical suite under the direction of a RN. Cases will include but not limited to Ortho, GYN, Endo, ENT, Urology, GI, Plastics, General, and other outpatient surgeries.

Schedule: This position will be working 0.8 FTE (64 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8 hours on the day shift, Monday - Friday, no holidays, or weekends at this time.

Responsibilities Job Description

As a Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for:

  • Excellent customer service

  • Adapting to an ever-changing environment and covering multiple areas in the department

  • The ability to problem solve effectively using critical thinking skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Serving as scrub person during operative procedures

  • Assisting the physician and nurse before, during, and after Endoscopy procedures, Endoscopy turnover, and scope cleaning

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Complete one of the following by hire date:

  • Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program

  • Military Surgical Assistant; OR

  • LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant

  • 2 years experience as a Surgical Technologist

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date)

  • Be available to work Monday - Friday, day shifts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire

  • Certification as Surgical Technologist

  • Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of population served.

  • Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions.
