M Health Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the SAU/PACU at the St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood, MN.

Schedule: This SAU/PACU nursing position will be working 80 hours every two weeks on a variable schedule, evening shift, for 10 hour shifts, including rotation of weekends and holidays.

About SAU/PACU at St. John's:

This is a Surgery Admit and Post Anesthesia Care unit that averages 18-25 cases a day. The RN is responsible for preparing patients for surgery which includes detailing assessment intakes and pre-op questions, assessing and starting IVs, verifying procedure, checking labs, maintaining a safe and sterile environment, and final checks before procedure. Nurses are also responsible for Phase 1 and 2 recovery of the surgical patient.

  • St. John’s OR has 8 Operating Rooms with supporting Preop and Postop department adjacent.

  • It is a Robotic Center of Excellence with General, Urology, GYN and Oncology being the largest Volume of Robotic cases.

  • Surgeries in this Unit include: Open Heart, complex and simple Neuro-spine, General, GYN, Plastics, Breast, the Kidney Stone Institute, ENT, Oral, Urology, Vascular, GI, Hernia, Thyroid, and traumatic Orthopedic

  • A new Cardiac Cath lab and Hybrid room adjacent to the OR.

Responsibilities Job Description

As a Registered Nurse in SAU/PACU:

  • Demonstrates dedication to principles of the patient care model (Professional Partnership Model) and achieving the HealthEast nursing vision and strategy.

  • Assess patients and patient condition according to Perioperative Policy and ASPAN Standards.

  • Delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s) who are anticipating and recovering from procedure(s) and anesthesia.

  • Coordinate care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.

  • Demonstrates ability to deliver care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.

  • Evaluates care, adapts interventions and prioritizes care based on patient assessment, uses resources to respond to emergency situations.

  • Cultivates a culture of improvement, efficiency and innovative thinking.

  • The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedure, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Two years recent RN PACU or ICU experience

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association

  • Registered Nurse MN (RN)

  • ACLS through American Heart Association within 6 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BSN or Higher
