Fairview Health Services Respiratory Therapy Clinical Educator in Maplewood, Minnesota
Coordinates education activities and functions of HealthEast Respiratory Therapy Departments across the HealthEast Care system. Acts as resource and consultant to HealthEast continuum of care in the development of staff through the competency based orientation and education process and clinical affiliation programs.
This is a full-time opportunity based out of St. Joe's hospital to provide RT education at St. Joe's, St. John's and Woodwinds. The role is primarily for days but this person will need to be available for our evening and overnight staff and will fill-in for RT shifts on weekends as needed, in addition to holidays as needed.
Provides or coordinates ongoing education and best practices as needed for HealthEast Hospital Respiratory Staff to ensure basic clinical competencies
Provides and coordinates education to the clinician in the coordination of patients care to provide effective and appropriate home care services
Assists in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating competency based orientation and education programs for HealthEast Hospital Respiratory Staff, in conjunction with Clinical Educator for Respiratory Therapy
Collaborates with Directors and Clinical Managers to plan and implement strategies that assure staff have tools to address patient/family teaching needs
Leads lead preceptors to develop and ensure staff competencies are met
Ensures regulatory requirements related to education are met
Provide direct patient care as needed
Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards
Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements
Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned
Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy
Licensed Respiratory Therapist (LRT) through MN Board of Medical Practice
Either Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) through National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association
3 years as a clinical Respiratory Therapist with experience as a charge/lead therapist and preceptor
Instructional skills and knowledge in adult learning theory, educational technology, and methodology
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement educational programs
Broad base of knowledge related to clinical practice, evidence based practice and supporting an infrastructure focusing on front line involvement
Ability to manage improvement projects, including gap analysis, needs assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation
