Fairview Health Services Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Overview

M Health Fairview is hiring a cardiac MRI Technologist to join our Magnetic Resonance Imaging department and expand our cardiac services at UMMC Fairview East Bank, Minneapolis, MN.

The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist functions independently based on the boundaries of professional practice in performing all major work responsibilities. The Technologist provides services to patients and physicians through the creation of high-quality diagnostic imaging, provides quality age-appropriate patient care according to established standards of practice, and works collaboratively with all members of the health care team. The technologist is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements (ARRT).

Schedule: This position will be working 1.0 FTE (80 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8-hour shifts primarily assigned to the day/evening shift. (10:30am – 7pm). This position will split time between the main MRI imaging and the cardiac imaging departments and will include a call and holiday rotation.

Responsibilities Job Description

Maintains patient care

  • Performs examinations

  • Identifies relevant data from images accurately

  • Communicates pertinent data clearly to the appropriate health care professional

  • Ensures patient safety and emergency preparedness

  • Documents patient information

  • Ensuring patient data integrity and accurately completing computer functions, edits, scheduling, billing, status changes and image transfers in a timely manner

Ensures proper film identification on all images

  • Accurately completes computer functions-edits, status changes, logging

  • Achieves quality diagnostic images by use of accurate positioning of patients and correct operation of equipment

Performs training and education duties

  • Participates in the orientation of new employees

  • Participates in the training of students

  • Maintains a high level of competency.

Maintains equipment

  • Correctly operates and optimizes the equipment

  • Understands the structure visualized and its significance

  • Accepts new technology as it’s introduced into the facility.

  • Participates in Quality Assurance testing as required by regulatory agencies and/or manufacturer recommendations.

Qualifications

Required

ARRT Certification

Basic Life Support (BLS) - from American Red Cross or American Heart Association

Meet MRI Safety Screen requirements

Preferred

Additional education in Imaging or Healthcare

Two years of MRI experience, cardiac experience is a plus.

MRI Certification within 18 months of hire or transfer to the role
