Fairview Health Services Nurse Manager, Operating Room in Minneapolis, Minnesota
The Nurse Manager of the Operating Room will oversee the daily clinical operations of the 24 bed OR Unit and will report to the Director of Perioperative Services. Working with 6 Patient Care Supervisors (Asst Nurse Managers), this role will have direct and indirect responsibility over roughly 130 FTEs (Nurses, Surgical Technologists, union Nursing Assistants & unit administrative staff). The Nurse Manager is responsible for promoting the practice of professional nursing as well as the development and utilization of resources. The Nurse Manager works cooperatively with administration, physicians, staff and customers of the M Health Fairview system to provide services and consistently meet and exceed expectations of the people we serve. The Nurse Manager is accountable for aspects of budgeting, performance management and human resources matters, including recruitment and the administration of disciplinary measures. The Manager implements and supports safety protocols and regulations ensuring compliance with federal, state and local requirements and meets all Joint Commission requirements. The Nurse Manager will model behaviors consistent with M Health Fairview’s mission, vision and philosophy and effectively maintain the hospitals Standards of Care and Practice.
Manages the day-to-day operations of assigned area(s) to ensure support of the mission, goals, and objectives of assigned area(s) and Fairview Health Services
Develops and/or provides input into budget for assigned area(s) according to established procedures.
Ensures that a process for collecting, monitoring and reporting quality data exists for assigned area.
Investigates and responds appropriately to all complaints and takes effective, corrective action when necessary.
Utilizes the nursing process in problem solving,
Serves as a role model for staff.
Manages change using a planned, orderly approach.
Demonstrates ability to implement problem-solving mechanisms in both routine and emergency situations.
Delegates appropriate tasks to staff.
Ensures implementation and development of standards of practice in patient care that reflect valid research findings.
Evaluates, develops and revises clinical systems to assure regulatory compliance.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field. If bachelors is not in nursing then must have a Master's degree in nursing.
3 years clinical nursing experience
1 year of nursing leadership experience
- Minnesota RN license
- Preferred Advanced Degree in nursing or related field
- Other forms of supervisory or management experience
