Fairview Health Services Pharmacy Training Specialist in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Overview

Responsible for working in conjunction with FPS training department to oversee and meet the training needs of FPS staff including developing training programs, providing on-going training to technical staff and providing ongoing evaluation and process improvement.

Responsibilities/Job Description

  • Work in conjunction with FPS Training Department and Pharmacy Departments to identify training needs of staff, develop and coordinate training programs, and conduct training. Provide training in a classroom setting and at work locations, including all pharmacy locations.

  • Design, organize, implement, execute and evaluate a training program for new pharmacist and pharmacy technicians to ensure maximum productivity, competency and safety. Conduct an ongoing analysis of implemented training programs and continually refine as necessary to meet the needs of employees and the pharmacy departments.

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by such methods as attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, etc.

  • Serve as a liaison between designated locations to ensure optimal training. Continue to solicit feedback from all staff, supervisors, managers and new employees. Utilize the feedback for ongoing process improvement in training.

  • Assist with providing training and resources for technicians studying for the national certification.

  • Identify areas for process improvement. Recommend and implement changes in methods or procedures to increase the efficiency, competency and safety of the sites and maximize productivity. Implement process improvements in the training process.

  • Provide coverage at designated locations when necessary.

  • Provide necessary software training to all employees and keep systems manual up to date.

  • Cross train with other training staff in necessary areas.

  • Serve as a pharmacy practice resource for personnel throughout the healthcare community.

  • Organize and maintain employee training records according to FPS policies and regulations.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

BA/BS degree

Minimum License/Certification/Registration:

Registered with MN Board of Pharmacy (or pending registration)

National Pharmacy Technician Certification

Minimum Experience:

Minimum of 3 years progressive pharmacy technician experience in a pharmacy setting.

Experience in aseptic technique including a thorough understanding of USP chapter 797.

Minimum of 2 years chemotherapy preparation.

Experience providing training. Experience in a complex, multi-site organization

Knowledge and ability to effectively and successfully teach others. Ability to work as part of a team or independently with minimal supervision, and effectively administer training to large and small groups.
