Fairview Health Services RN (will consider new grads) in Minneapolis, Minnesota


These positions are for Student Nurse Intern candidates from Summer 2018. They will be orginally housed in the FP, but offers could be made to specific units once we get closer to start dates.

Behavioral Float Pool

  • All Psych Associates and RNs report to a nurse manager

  • The float pool consists of approximately 30 RNs and 60 Psych Associates

  • The behavioral floatpool RN is responsible for providing comprehensive care to unstable/stable patients within the Behavioral Health department. Floatpool RNs are able to demonstrate their flexibility in the work environment and prompt response to changes in workload and assignments, as they are trained to work on multiple different units and serve a wide variety of patients.

  • The float pool serves a wide spectrum of patients within the Behavioral Health department including child/adolescents, adults, and seniors.

Responsibilities/Job Description

Assess, Plan, Implement and evaluate nursing care to ensure quality patient care in accordance with the missions and philosophy of Fairview Behavioral Services. Behavioral experience preferred.

Physical demands: Sitting, standing, walking, lifting-max 35lbs, push/pull-max. 35 lbs, balance, stooping/crouching, grasping, writing, finger dexterity/keyboarding, reaching, color vision, operate machinery, physical presence at work

Mental Demands: Frequent people contact, irregular work schedule, supervisory skills, detailed work, frequent interruptions, decision making skills, concentration, ability to work independent, multiple concurrent tasks, frequent deadlines, organizational skills, ability to collaborate with others, express ideas orally, remember and apply information, understand/follow basic instruction



  • Current MN RN license or by start date in 2019

  • AD in Nursing

  • BLS Certification

  • Requires ability to provide written validation of current basic life support competency

  • Must have completed 300-320 hours as a paid summer nurse intern at Fairview Health Services OR myust have at least one year of current RN experience in mental health.
