Fairview Health Services Medical Assistant Apprentice in Prior Lake, Minnesota

Overview

Are you interested in becoming a Medical Assistant?

Medical Assistant Apprentices perform limited Medical Assistant duties (within limits of current training) while taking coursework and studying toward certification as Medical Assistant at Rasmussen University. Their work is guided and supervised by the Service Line Primary Care Manager at the M Health Fairview Clinic – Prior Lake

Upon completion of the Apprenticeship, the team member will be able to facilitate many aspects of the patients visit experience including, room set up, point of care tests, vital signs, specimen collection, blood draws, administration of medications and immunizations. And, environment aspects such as room cleaning, sterile processing, quality controls, fire, and other safety precautions. The Apprentice may assist clinic Physicians and Advanced Practice Professionals as trained and advised and may perform administrative duties including patients check in and out, scheduling referrals and follow-ups, acquiring signatures, and directing phone calls.

Candidates must be available to start the first week fo July 2024.

Apprenticeship Details:

This program is one year long. We require apprentices to work a .6 FTE (48 hours per two-week pay period) at the clinic and be accepted into Rasmussen (the Eagan Campus) after receiving a job offer. Apprentices must maintain full time enrollment and passing grades and must intend to continue employment at Fairview Health Services. Starting wage is $20.00 an hour and as apprentices progress in their program they will receive quarterly increases ending in $21.00 an hour wage in the fourth quarter.

Apprentices will need to pursue the benefits associated with the program that are crafted to help offset the cost including:

  • Sponsorship funds - Apprentices are eligible for $4,500 in funds to assist with offsetting education expenses. A Workforce Development point of contact will work directly with the Apprentice to get a copy of their tuition statement and cover up to $4,500 of the statement. The payment is sent directly to Rasmussen. If the statement is less than $4,500, the remainder can be accessed for the following quarter and so on.

  • Tuition reimbursement/direct pay – eligible for up to $5,250 per year with a one-year work commitment.

  • Discount - Rasmussen offers a 20 percent discount on tuition as a M Health Fairview employee.

Apprenticeship serves as entry to a long-lasting and exciting career! Desire to become a MA/Medical Assistant and work in the healthcare field with a team-based approach.

Upon job offer must be eligible for admission/enrollment in the Medical Assistant Diploma Program at Rasmussen; the partner education institution selected by Fairview as described above. Proof of enrollment may be requested.

Related Experience

Minimum: Basic business office skills, clinical skills, and computer skills.

Preferred: Knowledge of medical terminology, prior healthcare experience.
