Fairview Health Services Employee Occupational Health Nurse Advisor in Saint Paul, Minnesota
Overview
This position will be located at Midway, in St. Paul.
The primary responsibility of the Employee Occupational Health Nurse Advisor on-call is to independently triage telephone calls from health care workers of Mhealth Fairview regarding Blood and Body fluid exposures and communicapable disease exposures. Utilizes excellent customer service skills and clinical expertise, protocols, and resources to direct or provide appropriate intervention. The schedule may require rotating off premise on call weekdays/weekends.
This position is casual , and will pick up shifts on the evening and/or night shift , as needed by the department.

Department Hours of Operation:
Monday - Thursday: 10:00pm - 6:00am
Friday: 10:00pm – 8:00am
Saturday: 4:00pm – 8:00am
Sunday: 4:00pm – 6:00am

Job Expectations:
Independently Triage Phone Calls
Demonstrates knowledge and expertise in triaging callers properly such that all callers receive a timely and appropriate response.
Completes timely documentation and identified outcomes
Assess employee, manager and organization needs:
Involves employee, manager and representatives of other disciplines as appropriate in gathering data
Determines if health/wellness goals impact or are impacted by laws, regulations, standards of practice, community best practices
Responds appropriately to emergent situations
Develops an individualized plan of care to achieve desired outcomes:
Develops a care plan consistent with medical standards based on organization and customer needs
Determines intervention and or recommendations based on relevant needs
Identifies and utilizes appropriate internal and external resources
Implements nursing interventions
Assists employee and manager with work related issues
Coordinates appropriate care, treatment and follow up of work-related health considerations based on knowledge of specific regulations, industry practices, work tasks and work environments
Documents interventions
Evaluates plan of care
Systematically and continuously evaluates employee response to interventions
Modifies intervention based on employee response
Involves manager, representatives of other disciplines and external resources as appropriate
Qualifications
Required Education:
- Associates degree – two year college nursing degree
Required Experience:
- 2 years’ experience in occupational health nursing or in area of nursing requiring independent nursing skills, i.e. college health/school nursing, ER nursing, etc.
Required License/Certification/Registration
- Current MN RN licensure
Preferred Education:
- BSN or BAN degree – 4 year college nursing degree
Preferred Experience:
- More than two years in occupational health nursing
Preferred License/Certification/Registration:
- COHN-S or COHN
