Fairview Health Services Manager HIM Coding in Saint Paul, Minnesota
Fairview Health Services is looking for a Manager of Health Information Management Coding position in our Wilder Office Center Minneapolis, MN. This is a full-time position working day hours working as a primary care professional manager, Monday thru Friday. The coding analyst department helps analyze clinical documentation; assign appropriate diagnosis, procedures, and in some cases, level of service codes ; and abstracts the codes and other clinical data. This position may work from home following necessary training and must be available for onsite training and team meetings. (This position is not able to accommodate working from another state remotely at this time).
The HIM Coding Manager is responsible for the leadership and management of a major coding section of Health Information Management Services. This could include multiple facilities. Coding sections include inpatient coding, outpatient coding, or pro fee coding.
Manages Primary Care Professional Coding Operations
Manages the operations of a coding section of Health information Management Services, assuring customer expectations, performance standards, strategic objectives, and compliance standards are being met.
Supervises staff to include hiring, orientation, monitoring performance, counseling, discipline, promotions, staff development, work assignment, employee recognition, etc.
Continuously improves processes to assure they are efficient and effective, and meet departmental and organizational expectations.
Evaluates new technology, including computerized information systems, makes recommendations for purchase, and manages implementation of new systems. Assures optimal performance of all systems used.
Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Business, or other healthcare-related field, or an associate’s
degree with three years applicable work experience.
Applicable coding certificate.
Three years of coding experience
Five years of coding experience and two years of management experience.
