Responsibilities Job Description
At the direction of leadership, the EMS Education Specialist will evaluate the performance of and deliver education to M Health Fairview EMS personnel, and other healthcare/public safety students. Assists with the development and implementation of course curriculum based on state and national standards, as well as customer needs. Provides mentorship and supports the system mission, vision and code of conduct.
Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards. Actively participates in crafting and implementing improvements. Instructs certification courses such as EMT, EMT Refresher (NCCP), EMR, Paramedic Refresher (NCCP), BLS and ACLS Provides training and development to Paramedics, EMT-B, dispatchers and MedKab drivers on job related content. Provides vital training for new equipment and procedures. Assists in the review of proposed patient care guidelines. Ensures ongoing proficiency of Paramedics and EMT’s through testing. Develops and maintains multi-media education programs including but not limited to online courses. Assists in the development of curriculum to meet the education and training needs for all of HEMT.Delivers scenario-based simulations using high-fidelity mannequins and actors for the purpose of training. Partners with the Field Training Officers to optimally onboard new employees.

Qualifications
Required
Experience
- 2 years of prehospital care experience required.
License/Certification/Registration
Nationally Registered (NREMT) EMT or Paramedic
Qualification source: National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians
Be able to obtain MN State Certification EMT or Paramedic within 90 days
Qualification source: MN Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board
Must meet system driver insurability standards
Preferred
Education
- Associate degree or higher preferred
Experience
4 years of prehospital care experience
2 years of adult education/teaching experience strongly preferred
Patient simulation experience
License/Certification/Registration
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor
BLS Instructor
Qualification source: American Heart Association
Department of Transportation Instructor certification
