Fairview Health Services Surgical Technologist – Labor & Delivery in Woodbury, Minnesota

Overview

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Surgical Technologist for the Delivery Room at our M Health Fairview, Woodwinds in Woodbury, MN .

We’re offering an up to $9,000 sign-on bonus along with a generous relocation bonus up to $5,000 !

As a Surgical Technologist, you’ll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the delivery room, arranging, and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the delivery room.

Schedule : This position will be working 0.6 FTE (48 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8 hours on the day shift. This position will also work a rotation for every other weekend.

About our Birth Center at Woodwinds :

  • Our Surgical Technologists will also complete Nursing Assistant tasks such as taking vital signs, weighing patients, passing food and water, and cleaning equipment / rooms.

  • Our Birth Center has 24 beds with 16 delivery rooms, 1 OR, and 8 post-partum rooms (which are also used for med-surg).

Responsibilities Job Description

As a Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for:

  • Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items.

  • Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures.

  • Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens.

  • Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments.

  • Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment.

  • Modifying clinical interventions based on population served.

  • Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.

  • Anticipating the surgeon’s needs.

  • Following appropriate action in emergency situations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Complete one of the following by hire date:

  • Military Surgical Assistant; OR

  • LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; OR

  • Surgical Technologist training

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program

  • AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire

  • 1 to 3 years surgical tech experience

Other Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of population served.

  • Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions.

Desired Skills:

  • Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations.

  • Ability to work well under a team environment.
